Wisconsin’s Milwaukee County ditches Lotus Notes, selects Office 365 over Google Apps

Wisconsin’s Milwaukee County has made the decision to ditch Lotus Notes for Microsoft’s Office 365 for email communication needs. This move affects 3,375 employees representing 40 departments and divisions with diverse lines of business, whose staff members are spread out over 1,190 square miles. 

Citing “inefficiencies” with Lotus Notes, the move to Office 365 provided the Milwaukee County with a new communication system that allows team members to easily connect, ensure proper security measures were set in place, and provide streamlined communication. Milwaukee County plans on rolling out additional Microsoft solutions, such as Yammer, SharePoint Online, and Windows devices, thanks to the initial deployment success of Office 365.

Government agencies are making the switch to Office 365 simply because Microsoft’s cloud offering meets the important compliance standards and regulations set forth by the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). This means government agencies can trust that its data is secure.
