Xbox boss Phil Spencer: Xbox One monthly updates set to continue in 2015

For those of you who own an Xbox One, you can either love the fact that Microsoft rolls out monthly updates for the Xbox One or you can hate it. Either way, Microsoft doesn’t plan to stop. Xbox boss Phil Spencer stated recently that these monthly updates are set to continue in 2015, for those of you who had any doubts. This is what he had to say:

“December, I expect to be a time that we’re just going to make sure people are turning on consoles and the games are playing well and everything’s working great. That’s job number one for us. As we roll into 2015, we definitely have a road map for monthly updates. When they’ll start up again we’ll watch. We’re kind of working through the schedules on those things now but it’s a commitment that we have as a platform team that we’ll continue monthly updates.”

December’s update will likely be minor, assuming the company will release an update in December. Microsoft has been working extra hard to roll out new features to the Xbox One, having recently improving multitasking and social abilities. Microsoft is also working on allowing Xbox One owners the ability to take screenshots — a feature that likely wont arrive until next year.

Phil Spencer took charge of the Xbox and Xbox Live business back in March of this year and the tech giant has been rolling out monthly updates to the Xbox One console, adding new features and making vast improvements. Microsoft also recently announced a $50 discount on the Xbox One (which includes special edition bundles).
