Xbox One is the fastest-selling console for the month of November in the USA Written by Ron on December 12, 2013, 08:29PM
Microsoft's Xbox One console launched back in November 22nd and Microsoft recently revealed that two million Xbox One units were sold within the first 18 days of launch. Now, in a new blog post, Microsoft touts a record 909,132 Xbox One units sold in the United States in the console's first nine days.
Microsoft is also touting the Xbox One as the fastest selling console on the market in the USA. Xbox One sales averaged a volume of 101,000 consoles per day, significantly outpacing the nearest competitor, which we all know to be Sony's PS4.
Total retail spending on the Xbox platform, which includes the Xbox One and Xbox 360, for the month of November totaled $1.21 billion. This included hardware, software and accessories. Of course, Microsoft is touting this figure as the most for any console in the USA, but remember that the devices and services giant is factoring in both Xbox One and Xbox 360 figures here.
The Xbox (which includes Xbox One and Xbox 360) held five of the top ten spots on the console game title list. The Xbox One, on the other hand, sold nearly three times as many units compared to the Xbox 360 during its launch back in November of 2005.
Not to be outdone, Sony revealed in a blog post today that the PS4 is the top-selling console for the month of November. "This afternoon we learned from market research firm NPD Group that PS4 was the top-selling console for November and PlayStation was #1 in sales overall for home consoles. This news comes on the heels of yesterday’s confirmation that the PS4 launch is the biggest ever in the history of game consoles. Ever! And it’s all thanks to you," Sony stated in a blog post.
So it appears that the Xbox One is the fastest selling console for the month of November, but the PS4 is the top-selling console for the month of November. Interesting.
