Xbox Video app for Windows 8.1 gets a much needed UI overhaul, matches Xbox One and web counterparts

Microsoft's Xbox Video service on Windows 8.1 is receiving a much needed user interface overhaul, thanks to a new update that has just hit the Windows Store. As you can see from the screenshot above, the new interface matches the Xbox One and web counterparts of Xbox Music.

"Xbox Video brings you the latest HD movies and TV shows on your Windows 8/Windows RT device and makes it easy to watch what you love wherever you are. Rent and buy new blockbuster movies and favorite classics, or catch up on last night's episodes of the hottest TV shows. Xbox Video also brings you instant-on HD to get you watching right away. Plus, explore your video collection and play your own videos," the app description reads.

According to the change log, this update simply features a redesign, making it easier to find and play the content you want. All owned content and personal videos are still available in your Collection. The update also features minor fixes and improvements throughout the app.

With this new update, the Xbox Video app is now inline with the Xbox Music app, when it comes to the user interface. Microsoft remains committed to both services, despite rumors that they were on the chopping block.
