The ScreenBeam Mini2 Continuum Edition is a wireless display adapter that enables Miracast and Intel Wi-Di wireless display connectivity for devices such as smartphones, laptops, and tablets. This particular version is designed specifically for use as a Continuum for Windows 10 Mobile devices such as the flagship Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL devices.

Unlike the Microsoft Display Dock we unboxed a few weeks ago, the Mini2 projects your phone wirelessly, allowing you the freedom of movement for your Continuum computing, such as for presentations and blissful TV lounging. Aside from being wireless, Continuum with the Mini2 works the same way as with the Display Dock. Like the Display Dock as well, you can use different apps on your phone and screen simultaneously, as we explained in our multitasking demo a few weeks ago.

The key difference is that there is no hub of USB ports that your phone can rely on. However, you can easily connect your phone to Bluetooth enabled mice and keyboards, which will have the same effect. Windows 10 Mobile also behaves more like a PC than ever before in that it allows you to plug USB powered devices such as flash drives and microphones into the phone itself to be consumed like any normal PC would. Even if you don’t yet have USB Type-C powered peripherals (and really, most of us don’t at the moment), you can use a USB to USB Type-C adapter and it’ll work just as well.

Setting up the Mini2 is a very simple task. Once it gets powered on by plugging a microUSB power source into it, it takes less than half a minute to boot up, and becomes a receiver for any Continuum-enabled phone. Once ready, simply head into the Continuum app on your Windows 10 Mobile device and follow instructions for wireless connectivity.

It’s an exciting time for Windows users, as the ScreenBeam Mini2 Continuum Edition provides another great solution for your next-generation smartphone productivity needs.

Also, special thanks to Actiontec for providing us with the Mini2.
