Adobe has went ahead and released the public beta version of Lightroom 4, which is the company’s photo workflow application, that now features a more capable editing brush, changes to basic editing sliders, and a more robust video handling.

“Lightroom 4 beta builds on the vision of the very first Lightroom beta. From day 1, Lightroom was designed for photographers and by photographers to help them focus on what they love—the art and craft of photography. Lightroom provides photographers with an elegant and efficient way to work with their growing digital image collections, bring out the best in their images, and make an impact from raw capture to creative output, all while maintaining the highest possible quality each step of the way,” Adobe stated on its website.

Lightroom 4 beta has several new features such as improved basic video editing, map integration for geo-tagging photo locations, and an efficient camera and lens corrections. Adobe has also implemented a book-creating tool in the beta as well as made it easier to share pictures via email.

Other notable features include the new map module which is based on Google Maps. Photos that are created via a mobile phone will have their location embedded in the picture file and the software will automatically place them on its built-in map.

Lightroom 4 beta also features basic video editing tools such as trimming, capturing frames, and changing the poster frame. Users can also apply image exposure and color effects.

Adobe has made Lightroom 4 beta available to the public and the beta version expires on the 31st of March.
