AT&T begins rolling out Windows Phone 8.1 update to Lumia 1520 handsets

Earlier this week we learned that AT&T might begin the roll out of the Windows Phone 8.1 update to select handsets on its network. The network giant has kept its promise and has started pushing the said update to all Lumia 1520 handsets. However, the rollout was shortly pulled due to some glitch, but we are now able to confirm that the rollout has been resumed.

While the company hasn’t shared the order in which it plans to update its devices, now that one of the smartphones has begun receiving the update, we are sure other handsets will receive it soon enough. The Windows Phone 8.1 update will make use of the Lumia 1520’s four digital microphones and 140 dB recording range capabilities. The update also brings a plethora of features, you can read all about it here.

If you rock a Lumia 1520 handset and are on AT&T’s network, you can check for the update by visiting Settings > Phone Update > Check for update. Let us know in the comments below if you were able to successfully install the update.

Important: If you have the Developer Preview of Windows Phone 8.1 installed on your device, you will not receive this update. Microsoft recently halted any further updates to the Dev Preview (until an issue is resolved). So keep waiting, or downgrade to Windows Phone 8.0. More details on this soon.
