What we know so far is that Bill Gates isn’t interested in becoming the next CEO of Microsoft, the company he co-founded with Paul Allen 39 years ago. And now rumor has it that Microsoft may have Gates step down from his Chairman position.

This isn’t the first time that we have heard such news. Last year, reports that three key investors want him out of his position made some buzz. Bill Gates has had been framed as one of Microsoft’s biggest problems. Many analysts believe that Gates and many other old Microsofties have inscribed some mainframes, and everything at Microsoft is done within those defined rules.

According to the source which revealed this information to Bloomberg, John Thompson is likely to fill Gates’ position.

Gates who own 4.5 percent of the company, is by far the biggest shareholder of the firm. While we are not sure if this thing will really happen, but if it does, will Bill Gates give up his board membership as well? It doesn’t seem that way.

“Even if Gates steps down as chairman, he may be more involved in the company, said two people familiar with the matter, particularly in areas like product development.”

This announcement is supposedly coming with the other much awaited new CEO declaration.
