Bing Apps for Windows Phone 8.1 receives single sign on feature and more

In an official blog post today, Microsoft has revealed that the Bing apps suite on Windows Phone 8.1 has been updated with new features. One of the key new features is the ability to sign into each Bing app one time with single sign-on.

"We are releasing a broad set of updates to the Bing Apps which are available for download and will now ship standard on new Windows Phone devices.   The app updates are available only to users on Windows Phone 8.1 which is currently in developer preview.  It will be available to existing users running compatible hardware and on the next wave of Windows Phone devices in the coming months," Microsoft stated in an official blog post.

Thanks to user feedback, you can now enter your Microsoft credentials one time and choose to connect to each Bing app. These apps include Food & Drink, Health & Fitness, News, Sports, Travel, Finance, and Weather.

The Food & Drink app is set to receive thousands of tutorial videos as well as insights, recipes and culinary tips from world-renowned chefs including Tom Colicchio, Wolfgang Puck, Daniel Boulud, Jacques Pepin, Joel Robuchon, Marcus Samuelsson and Vikas Khanna. You will also be able to quickly reference top content in one personalized location with Source Hub, which lets you choose your favorite sources.

The updated Bing Travel app will now allow you to track your flight arrival and destination time, based on real time data feeds. Bing News, on the other hand, adds New York Times as a news source, as well as safeguards for explicit content. A warning notification will appear in the app notifying you of offensive language or objectionable content in select sources.

Microsoft did not specify if these new features were a part of the recent updates to the Bing apps suite, or if these features will be added in a future update. If you already have these features, let us know in the comments below.
