February 2014 Patch Tuesday features seven updates, five of which are for Windows 8.1

February 2014 Patch Tuesday is set to take place later today and we are expecting to see seven security updates for various Microsoft products. Four of these seven updates are rated Critical, Microsoft’s highest security level. Three of the updates are rated Important.

The Critical updates address vulnerabilities in various editions of Microsoft’s Windows operating system and Security software while the Important-rated updates address issues in Windows and the .NET Framework. Windows 8.1 is slated to receive five of the updates, three of which are rated Critical and deal with Remote Code Execution.

Windows RT, on the other hand, receives three Critical updates and three Important updates, while Windows RT 8.1 receives three Critical updates and two Important updates. Windows XP, which nears its end of life, receives two Critical updates and two Important updates.

These updates are scheduled to roll out at approximately 10AM PST. Head over to Windows Update to snag the updates. If you have automatic updates enabled, you will automatically receive the updates and be prompted for a system reboot.
