Instagram Beta

Project Islandwood is the codename for the Windows Bridge for iOS, allowing app developers to easily build a Universal Windows 10 app from an existing iOS app. Looks like we may be seeing an official Instagram app for Windows 10 very soon, if this report is accurate.

According to details from WindowsBlogItalia (an Italian blog), a Universal Windows 10 app for Instagram is currently in private beta and is a port from iOS. No further details were revealed about the app, when it would become available to the public, or when it would be released. A video was provided showcasing the app in action alongside the Instagram Beta app (the one that was released two years ago) and you can watch the video below.

Interestingly, it has been two years since Instagram Beta was released. The app has received hardly any updates and still remains in beta to this day. Hopefully, Project Islandwood will be the dawning of new apps for Windows 10. We’ll just have to wait and see if app developers take advantage of the tool.
