Microsoft has had a successful run with the Surface Pro 3, racking up $1.1 billion in revenue from the sale of Surface tablets in the second fiscal quarter of 2015. Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a full-fledged hybrid machine, which can be used as a laptop as well as a tablet, and runs a full-fledged version of Windows operating system, allowing users to install normal programs on the device.
According to a new report, we may get to see the next iteration of the tablet, the Surface Pro 4, soon. The tablet is expected to come in two sizes, shipping with the upcoming Windows 10 as its operating system. Just like the current iteration, the upcoming model is also expected to come with support for a detachable keyboard so it could be used as a laptop as well as a tablet.
As far as the sizes are concerned, the report mentions one will be the usual 12-inch model boasting a resolution of 2160 by 1440 pixels, while the other variant will offer a smaller display – possibly the Surface Pro Mini. We’ve heard quite a lot about the miniature version of the Surface tablet, and it was apparently canceled on the last moment, with reports mentioning that it has a tough competition with no distinctive features to set it apart from its competitors.
There’s no word from Microsoft about its existence, and let’s just be honest, there won’t be any unless the company decides to take the wraps off the device itself. If Microsoft manages to make Windows 10 stand out and make it successful, there’s a high probability that the alleged Surface Pro 4 could offer users with even better functionality.
