Microsoft officially unveils the new Xbox One Media Remote

It’s not long since we heard something about an upcoming remote control for Xbox One — Amazon already accidentally revealed it last week — but now things are getting official. Microsoft has released more details about the device, explaining how the Xbox One Media Remote can be used to control both Blu-rays and streaming media.

Featuring a “soft, silicone finish that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand” the remote also provides easy access to your favorite TV shows and movies, and a motion sensor means that it lights up when picked up to make it easier to see each of the buttons. Used in conjunction with Kinect, the remote also control TV volume thanks to the IR blaster feature.

Major Nelson added a video to Vine that gives a very quick glimpse of what the remote looks like — check it out below:

The remote is due to launch in early March (in keeping with Amazon’s suggestion of 4 March), when US residents can expect to pay $24.99 for it, and global pricing should be fairly similar.

What do you think? Sexy bit of kit?
