Microsoft partners with Corona Labs to push Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 apps

Corona Labs, the company behind the Corona SDK which can be used to develop apps for numerous platform, is joining forces with Microsoft. The new partnership will enable developers to use the SDK to publish apps for Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8.

The announcement was made on the Windows Phone Developer Blog where it was revealed that beta support for Windows Phone 8 will begin in the first quarter of 2014, while full support for the Windows Phone and Windows Store apps will follow.

Corona Labs has a community of over 300,000 developers and this will help to grow the number of apps that can be found in Microsoft’s app stores.

The use of a single code base to produce apps for several platforms is obviously appealing to developers. On the Corona Labs blog, Matthias Schindler, CTO of flaregames said:

“Corona SDK makes it extremely easy to publish for iOS and Android with a single code base. By supporting Windows, Corona Labs will make it even easier for us to maximize our apps’ reach and success.”
