Microsoft has just made available a new build of its popular Security Essentials software. Build 4.1.509.0 is now available for download and it appears that there is no support for Windows 8 just yet, only Windows 7 down to Windows XP is supported.

“As a Microsoft Security Essentials Prerelease user, you will have the opportunity to explore and test new builds of Microsoft Security Essentials before they are publically available and provide feedback to Microsoft. Your feedback helps Microsoft to make its software and services the best that they can be,” Microsoft stated. Updates for Microsoft Security Essentials will be automatically installed through Microsoft Update. It appears that there is no official support for Windows 8 just yet, as Microsoft mentions that Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP are the supported operating systems. You are able to download this software but will be required to register on Microsoft Connect in order to submit feedback and receive notifications/announcements. If you just want to try out the software, grab it from the download link below.
