With one major update behind, and another one ahead, Microsoft still cares about the initial version of Windows 10. During yesterday’s Patch Tuesday, Redmond released a new cumulative update for the RTM version (10240) of Windows 10.

The latest cumulative update for Windows 10 RTM is dubbed KB3163017, and although it doesn’t bring any new features, it enhances the overall performance of the system, and fixes some known issues and bugs. Because the update is a cumulative one, it includes all previously released improvements for Windows 10 RTM, so if you didn’t manage to install the previous cumulative update, you don’t have to worry, as Microsoft got you covered.

Here’s what cumulative update KB3163017 for Windows 10 brings:

  • “Improved reliability of Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge, and Windows Explorer.
  • Improved performance of loading webpages in Internet Explorer 11 when roaming user profiles are used.
  • Fixed issue with balloon tip notifications always appearing in the upper left side of the screen.
  • Fixed issue where Shell Launcher stops working when signing in with an administrator account.
  • Improved support of special character input for some keyboard languages on the sign in screen.
  • Fixed issue that caused some devices with many processors to hang while rebooting or resuming from sleep.
  • Fixed additional issues in Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer 11, Windows Explorer, Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI), revised daylight saving time, and Microsoft Graphics component.
  • Fixed additional security issues with Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Edge, Server Message Block (SMB) Server, Microsoft Graphics Component, Group Policy, Windows Diagnostic Hub, Kernel mode drivers, Microsoft Windows PDF, Windows Structured Query, Adobe Flash Player, and Web Proxy Autodiscovery Protocol (WPAD).”

As you can see, the update mainly focuses on fixing some known issues in Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer. If you didn’t receive the update already, go to Settings > Update & security, and check for updates.
