More Windows Phone handsets incoming, Indian OEM Karbonn Mobiles readies a launch

A few months ago, after Microsoft revealed several new hardware partners for Windows Phone, Karbonn Mobiles — one of its new mobile partners — announced that it will launch as many as four Windows Phone handsets. The company’s Managing Director, Pradeep Jain, in a new interview shared tidbits about the development to the story.

Jain said that Karbonn Mobiles will launch three new Windows Phone handsets. He also reaffirmed that these devices will be priced in the budget range of Rs. 8,000-15,000 ($130-$250).

The news we have learned today is that these devices will include some local Indian apps and services. “Microsoft sees great value in developing an ecosystem through partnership with local players like Karbonn.” The devices will be launched this quarter, and our sources tell us that it will take place next month.

Last month, Micromax and Xolo, the two leading Indian OEMs launched their Windows Phone handsets. How do you feel about India’s ever growing passion for this operating system? Share with us in the comments.
