Microsoft announced back in June this year that Facebook was planning to launch an official app for the Windows 8.1 release. Today is that day, and the official Facebook app for Windows 8.1 is here for everyone who’s running Windows 8.1 to enjoy! The official app should help shrink the amount of apps Windows 8 is missing. We’re still waiting for the official Flipboard app to appear in the Store too!
The app borrows many Modern UI elements, making the app look flat and much like other Windows 8 apps. However it still has its own Facebook UI spin on it, we still have the menu on the left and the chat on the right side of the screen, much like on other tablet OS’s.
The app is available now in the Windows Store for Windows 8.1, and Windows 8.1 is expected to launch within the next couple of hours. Check back at WinBeta.org for more news regarding new apps and Windows 8.1!
