“Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3 will be the OS of the privileged”: This sentence best describes what many Windows 10 Mobile Insiders felt when they found out the Windows Insider Program currently supports only 11 devices.

Yes, you’ve read that right.

This means that only 11 phones are currently fully compatible with the Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3 OS. Below are them all:

Windows 10 Mobile Redstone 3 compatible phones

  • HP Elite x3
  • Microsoft Lumia 550
  • Microsoft Lumia 640/640XL
  • Microsoft Lumia 650
  • Microsoft Lumia 950/950 XL
  • Alcatel IDOL 4S
  • Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL
  • SoftBank 503LV
  • VAIO Phone Biz
  • MouseComputer MADOSMA Q601
  • Trinity NuAns NEO

All the devices not on this list won’t receive the Windows 10 Creators Update nor will they receive any future builds. This doesn’t mean that you can’t try to upgrade your phone to the latest OS. Technically, you can download and install the latest Windows 10 Mobile OS on your phone. However, if your device is not on this list, you’ll update it at your own risk.

If your phone is unsupported, we advise you to leave the Windows Insider Program in order to avoid severe technical issues that may prevent you from using your device.

Here’s how Dona Sarkar justified this decision:

We recognize that many Insiders will be disappointed to see their device is no longer supported. We looked at feedback from our Windows Insiders and realized that we were not providing the best possible experience for our customers on many older devices. That helped us determine which devices we support for the Windows 10 Creators Update. We are continually listening to your feedback to provide the best experience for ALL of our customers.

Are you planning to leave the Windows Insider Program or buy a compatible Windows 10 phone?
