Skype app for Windows 8.1 receives new update, calls and chats are now synced

Microsoft has rolled out a new update to the Skype app for Windows 8.1, bumping the version number to 2.6. With this update, Skype will now sync your calls and chats across multiple devices. On top of that, this update supports Windows 8.1, so if you are still on Windows 8, you will not be able to utilize the new features from this new app update. Here is what’s new:

  • Synced Calls – When you pick up a call on any device and your modern Skype is on, the incoming ring will stop much faster. Whether you have Skype on a mobile, in your Outlook.com inbox, desktop, tablet or 2-in-1, Skype calls will sync up wherever you choose to take the call from.
  • Synced chats – Chat history and read messages also sync automatically across devices. This way, wherever you are, you can continue the conversation you started. You can also send an IM while someone is offline and they will receive it the next time they sign in.
