Square Enix negotiating with Microsoft to bring Final Fantasy XIV to Xbox

Final Fantasy has been popular for more years than some of us care to remember, and it continues to be a force on both the Play Station and PC platforms, even moving to mobile devices with some versions. However, Xbox has never hosted the roll-playing epic, but that may be about to change.

Naoki Yoshida has talked about his company, Square Enix, porting the game over to the Microsoft console. There are some stumbling blocks, though. The problem is Xbox Live — the rules currently block games such as this. There are currently no massively multi-player role playing games (MMORPG) on the Xbox platform.

Essentially, the company wants its gamers to be able to play against one another, regardless of the platform they are using, be it Xbox, Play Station or anything else. The game is already on the PC, PS3 and PS4, so this is the final hurdle to clear. We will see if and when this happens.
