Let’s go over some of these apps below.

Background Designer

Background Designer ($1.99) – “This app is no collection of ready to use backgrounds. It’s a tool to help you create your own background pictures. Furthermore this is no click-n-go app. You must invest some time to find the perfect settings! You can use these background pictures for your lock screen back ground and for your Windows Phone 8.1 start screen background,” the app description reads.

Background Designer is one of the top paid apps right now in the Windows Phone Store and allows you to create your own custom Start Screen and Lock Screen background.

#wpdev

#wpdev (free) – “#wpdev was created to provide developers with access to official Microsoft resources related to building apps for the Windows Store and Windows Phone Store. With this app you’ll have access to the latest blog posts, training resources, and partner resources. Best of all, we’ll also help you connect with our tech advisors – specialists in developing apps for the Windows Store and the Windows Phone Store,” the app description reads.

This app is a fantastic resource for app developers, allowing them to read the latest blog posts on development, and read up on the latest training resources. You can even connect with those who specialize in developing apps for Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.

Don’t Tap on The White Tile (free) – “Very Addictive Gameplay. Don’t tap on the white tile. Tap as fast as you can on the black tile. Is it easy? You can find out in Arcade Mode,” the app description reads. This game is simple yet challenging. I had the pleasure of playing this game and at first I thought it was easy. Boy was I wrong! This game is difficult as time goes on. Here are the gameplay modes:

  • Arcade mode: tap the black tiles as many as possible and try to stay alive as long as you can
  • Classic mode: tap the black tiles as fast as possible to reach the targets
  • Zen mode: tap the black tiles as many as possible in 30 seconds
  • Relay mode: tap 50 black tiles in 10 seconds to pass one round. Try to win as many rounds as possible.
  • Rush mode: similar to Arcade mode, but your speed is your score.

CloudMesh

CloudMesh (free) – “CloudMesh is an app where you can manage all your cloud accounts and local files enabling you to copy them between services. Besides enabling you to manage your cloud data, you can also manage your local file system. You can have multiple accounts of the same cloud service and search between them all,” the app description reads.

CloudMesh is the new way to manage your Cloud Media on your Windows Phone. The app, which has made its debut to the Windows Phone Store a few days ago, is available for download and offers you the ability to manage all your cloud storage accounts from one single app. It supports Mega, Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, MeoCloud, Facebook, Phone files, SD Card, and Microsoft’s OneDrive.

Zombies Can't Jump

Zombies Can’t Jump ($1.99) – “Grab your weapons and construction kit! Challenge and fun is awaiting you in this original, nail hammering zombie defense game. Don’t let the zombies knock you down – build your defenses, TNT devices, spiked balls, gun turrets, crates, collect powerful weapons and unleash your survival rage. Battle your way through 20 original levels and 2 survival challenges re-playable in different ways. Zombies can’t jump and you are not going down,” the app description reads.

Zombie-related games are becoming popular these days. If you’re looking for something similar to kill time on your Windows 8.1 machine, take a look at Zombies Can’t Jump, where your task is to defend yourself from the zombie apocalypse by building defenses such as bombs, crates, guns, and more.

The game comes with 20 challenging levels to test your skills. More achievements and items are unlocked as you complete different levels and progress in the game. Zombies Can’t Jump comes with two modes: Story mode and a survival mode. In the Survival mode, there are two re-playable challenges which you can try again and again, after unlocking powerful weapons and items to beat your own high score.
