Viber appears ready to begin beta testing its Windows 10 UWP app

It’s been a long time since we wrote about Viber, and while the Windows Phone 8.1 still works on Windows 10 Mobile it hasn’t been updated since September 2015. Viber first teased a brand new Windows 10 version of its messaging app back at Build 2015, but we didn’t hear anything about it since then. However, we just learned that the new Windows 10 Viber app could be nearly ready according to our colleagues at Windows Central. According to the report, Viber is currently sending invites for a closed beta testing of the Windows 10 UWP to select users, meaning that the developers need some user feedback about the brand new app.

Viber currently has an ubiquitous presence on Windows devices with a Windows Phone 8 app and a Windows 8 app, and the messaging app claims more than 500 million monthly active users worldwide. While these numbers can’t compare to Whatsapp massive 1 billion monthly active users, it’s still better than the entire Skype active userbase (only 300 million users per month as Microsoft announced during Build 2016, can you believe that?). If you currently use Viber on your Windows 10 devices, are you excited by the upcoming UWP app? Please tell us about it in the comments.
