Yesterday, Microsoft kicked off the global rollout to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update for Windows 10 PCs as well as the HoloLens Developer Edition, just a few days after the company’s Xbox One gaming console received it as the “Xbox One Summer Update.” However, users on Windows 10 Mobile will have to wait a few more days as head of the Windows Insider program Dona Sarkar reiterated yesterday that the Anniversary update will roll out gradually to all devices including phones:

Earlier today, Neowin reported that Microsoft’s official Lumia India Twitter account announced yesterday that the update for Windows 10 Mobile would “be available on August 9 2016,” but the tweet has since been deleted. It’s not clear why the Twitter account initially published the information, but Lumia India has since published a new tweet to explain that the Anniversary update for Windows 10 Mobile would be released “in the upcoming days.”

Without any official confirmation from Dona Sarkar or other Microsoft execs, we’ll have to see what happens on August 9, which also happens to be this month’s “Patch Tuesday”. In the meantime, if you can’t wait to get the Anniversary Update on your phone, you may get it by joining the Windows Insider Program. As of today, the Windows 10 Mobile build 14393.5 has rolled out to all Insider Rings, and it works really well. However, be aware that if your phone was not supported for the initial upgrade to Windows 10 Mobile in March, you won’t get the Anniversary Update at all even if you join the Windows Insider program.
